YOU'RE A LOSER

I drink a lot of Cokes (or pop depending on where you're from), and there have been many bottle top games over the years. The bottle caps these days are a lot more friendly than they use to be. Mine today says "PLEASE TRY AGAIN". But didn't they use to say "YOU'RE A LOSER"? I can't seem to find it on Google images, but that seems to be correct from my memory. At some point, the "pop" companies changed the message.

    Why the change?

There are very slim chances of ever winning at a bottle cap game, unless you're cheating and unscrewing bottle caps right there in Krogers. That means there are quite a number of "YOU'RE A LOSER" caps. As a kid (or even as an adult), how crushing is it to get a "YOU'RE A LOSER" bottle cap over....and over....and over? I guess after the public got pounded with this message over and over again by Coke and Pepsi products, the marketing people had a brilliant idea. "Hey! Instead of calling everyone losers, we should say "sorry, try again" and buy more products!" Novel idea huh?

Just a random thought. Don't try to read into it too much.

i'd be intrigued to know what brought this thought to mind. And I remember winning a lot back in the mid-90's (mostly another soda/pop/coke/fizzy drink). I think having to go online to see if you've won is stupid; I want instant gratification.

Party Time!

Tonight we went to the new BoneFish Grill and then went bowling for my 33rd birthday. We had a blast and Alee put sooo much effort into making it special! At the bowling aleey, I had to wear the orange wig the whole time. The silver wig went to whoever had the last gutter ball. The pictures below I took with my new camera, which was also a birthday gift!

I Spanked the Big Dam Bridge

Photo by Bryan Thornhill, Arkansas Online

Alee and I ran the Big Dam Bridge 5K this weekend. I decided we would split up and run at our own pace this time. We "ran into" (ha-ha!) a friend of ours down there so Alee had someone to run with. I ran it in 30:33.41 with a pace of 9:51 per mile!!! (which is excellent! The previous two races I ran at 33 minutes). The race was at 8 pm on Saturday night across the beautiful Murray Lock and Dam pedestrian bridge. I think it was the beautiful scenery that kept my mind off the pain of running. It was a lot of fun getting to do something that Alee enjoys doing. Plus, now I have a T-shirt that says "Big Dam Bridge" on it! It was totally worth it!

AleeandKenny.com has moved!

I've pointed aleeandkenny.com to a new blog to talk about married life. (It use to be pointed to Bed, Bath and Beyond's website for our gift registry, but I'll faint if we get one more gift!) I'm sure many of you will find these things to be humorous and will remind you what it was like when you first got married. You might even puke a little at how cute we are.

Sometimes It's Just Not Your Day

I work with computers all day. And while they behave for the most part, sometimes you just have one of those days with a computer. Today is that day.

The screen below pretty much sums it up. Every once in awhile I'll get an application to be "Not Responding", but I have talent. I actually managed to get the Task Manager to do it today...

Just what every baby needs

First off (because I know my Dad will ask), no we're not pregnant.

I saw this advertised in a DealCatcher email I get. I can't believe what some people will buy for their kids. And seriously...how is a baby suppose to dial in Barney's Greatest Hits when it can't even hold its head up?

Personally I'm waiting for the iLawnmower.

Where's My Closeup, Mr. Thornton?

Tim Holder, a friend of mine and Alee's, is starring in a movie that's playing at the Little Rock Film Festival this weekend. It's called "Where's My Closeup Mr. Thornton?". It's about a certain cameo he did in another little film called "Slingblade", which was suppose to launch his acting career...but it didn't.

Check it out here at the longest URL I've ever seen: www.wheresmycloseupmrthornton.com
There's a trailer there you HAVE to see!

Here's where you can see it:
    Friday / May 18 / 6PM (PREMIERE)
    Little Rock Film Festival
    Riverdale 10 Cinemas #1

    Saturday / May 19 / 2:30PM
    Little Rock Film Festival
    Little Rock Chamber of Commerce

We're planning on going to the Saturday afternoon one if anyone is interested in going!
